We ordered the Casablanca graphic print T-shirt in code 90 black, size L, at $8.81 against a $9.27 original, and it arrived in stock condition with no packaging damage. SKU 7718753246. The listing's own specification table opens with a number that is easy to skim past: 250 g. That figure is usually a fabric weight in grams per square metre, not the mass of the garment, and the two get confused constantly in resale listings. So we put the shirt on the bench scale first and worked backwards from there.
Turning 250 g into something checkable
Our size L unit weighed 214 g on a scale accurate to 1 g. To convert that into an areal density we laid the front and back panels flat, traced them on gridded paper and added the two raglan sleeves, arriving at roughly 0.88 m² of cloth. That gives about 242 g/m² — inside 3 percent of the stated 250 g, which is closer than most listings we grade. Hand feel matches: dense, dry, with very little light coming through the knit when held against the light box.
| Check (size L, flat) | Reading |
|---|---|
| Garment mass, as received | 214 g |
| Derived fabric weight | ~242 g/m² against a 250 g claim |
| Chest, pit to pit | 58 cm |
| Body length, collar seam to hem | 71 cm |
| Sleeve, collar to cuff (raglan) | 34 cm |
| Neck opening, relaxed | 18.5 cm |
| Stitch density, hem and raglan seam | 11–12 stitches per inch |
Spec table versus parcel: the sleeve construction
The English description reads as a "regular, relaxed" crewneck with short sleeves, which most buyers will read as a standard set-in sleeve. The Chinese specification table says otherwise — it lists a raglan sleeve — and the parcel agrees with the table. The seam runs diagonally from underarm to collar, so there is no shoulder seam to measure across. That matters twice: it changes how the shirt sits under an open jacket, and it means anyone comparing the shoulder figure to a set-in tee will get a meaningless number. We flagged it as a listing inconsistency rather than a fault, because the garment itself is consistent.
The print on a black ground
The front graphic is a colourful geometric and cartoon-inspired motif printed by a dye process rather than a heavy plastisol layer. Under the light box the print sits low in the cloth — you can feel the knit texture through it, and the hand does not catch. On black, edge halo is the usual failure: a pale outline where the screen slipped. Our unit showed no halo at the motif border, and registration between colours held within about a millimetre at the busiest junction. The trade-off of the low-ink process is saturation: the brights read slightly deeper on black than the white twin, which is a look, not a defect.
One 30 °C cycle
The care label on our unit reads 100 percent cotton, machine wash at 30 °C. We ran a single cycle at that temperature, line dried flat, and re-measured. Mass came back at 213 g — effectively unchanged, so the fibre did not shed or felt. The chest moved in by 1.0 cm and the length by 0.8 cm, both inside the listing's stated 1–3 cm tolerance. Because the panel shrank while the mass stayed put, the effective density climbed to roughly 247 g/m². The print was unchanged at the border and across the motif, and the ribbed neckline returned to 18.5 cm after drying.
What buyer evidence does and does not cover
Sourced reports on Casablanca tops generally are favourable on material: buyers on r/FashionReps describe the shirts as thick, 100 percent cotton with A+ graphic prints, and a second thread calls the quality excellent and close to the original. Those threads are about the brand's shirts, not this SKU, so they support the material impression and nothing about this specific print run. Sizing reports split — one reviewer advises sizing down for a tailored fit, others report true to size. Against that, one retail buyer on Trustpilot reports a defect after minimal wear with a replacement refused; it is a single report about the retail brand, not a pattern we could confirm here, but it is the reason we would get any after-sales arrangement in writing before ordering.
Ordering notes from the bench
- The variant list runs from code 90 down to code 37 in black and white — around a hundred options against 41 gallery images. Ask the agent to send the photo attached to your exact code before it ships.
- There is no size chart in the listing we received. Use the flat figures above as a starting point and add the 1–3 cm tolerance.
- Raglan construction means the shirt layers cleanly under an open shirt or jacket without a shoulder ridge, but a structured blazer will pull at the diagonal seam.
Practical upshot on the weight question: the 250 g figure survives the scale, and the shirt behaves like a mid-heavy summer cotton rather than a thin promotional tee. What it will not do is answer the fit question for you, and that remains the one place where a $8.81 order can still disappoint.
